Morning! welcome to virtualcloudblog.com and thanks for checking it out today. The following post is vSAN Specialist related.

What is that?

The VMware vSAN 2017 Specialist badge holder is a technical expert who understands the vSAN 6.6 architecture and its complete feature set, knows how to conduct a vSAN design and deployment exercise, can implement a live vSAN HCI environment based on certified hardware/software components and best practices, and can administer/operate a vSAN cluster properly.

How to prepare the exam?

Take the official VMware Course (any)

This three-day courses, you will focus on deploying and managing a software-defined storage solution with VMware vSAN™ 6.6 or 6.7. You will learn how vSAN functions as an important component in the VMware software-defined data center. You will gain practical experience with vSAN concepts through the completion of hands-on lab exercises.

There are 5 hands-on lab you should complete. Archiving these 3 labs, you get deep knowledge about how vSAN works, and the way to configure vSAN in a proper maner.

It’s not mandatory but highly recommended to be trained in vSphere 6.x. There are lots of aspects and topics vSphere 6.x related, so my suggestion is to have deep knowledge with vSphere before preparing the vSAN exam.

Apart of that, (if possible) strongly recommended to have 6 months working with vSAN.

Of course, you should read and understand the vSAN Exam Guide available from VMware
